Entity Polymat Fundazioa - PhD Fellowship in Chemistry
Sector of Activity Polymer Materials
Description

Is devoted to use-inspired basic research on the synthesis, assembly and processing of polymers which, in combination with theory and simulation, enables these challenges to be tackled.

1 PhD position is available at the Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering, POLYMAT Fundazioa (www.polymat.eu).

Applicants must have a solid background in Polymer Chemistry&Engineering and knowledge in electrochemistry will also be beneficial. We are looking for candidates with a Master degree in Chemistry (Polymers), Chemical Engineering or any other related area.

Topic: The project aims at developing new anticorrosion coatings based in the combination of suitable waterborne polymeric binders and corrosion inhibitors. During the project anticorrosion inhibitors developed at Deakin University (Australia) by the group of Prof. Maria Forsyth will be incorporated into waterborne acrylic binders either during their synthesis or during the formulation and the corrosion properties of the coatings assessed.

The project is funded by the BERC POLYMAT and it will be supervised by Prof. Maria Forsyth and Prof. Jose Ramon Leiza & Prof. María Paulis.

Good command of written and spoken English is a must (if preselected, a telephone interview will be carried out before any other appointment is made). The selected candidate is expected to conduct research, write papers, and deliver a PhD thesis.
