The candidate is expected to enroll in the PhD program: Química Aplicada y Materiales Poliméricos (Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials) at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) at Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain.

Applicants must have a BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering (or a related discipline) and an MSc where the candidate had acquired knowledge on Polymer Science. A background in Polymer Reaction Engineering or Chemical Engineering is highly desirable.

Good command of written and spoken English is a must (if preselected, a telephone/skype interview will be carried out before the final selection is made). The selected candidate is expected to conduct research, write project reports, scientific papers, and deliver a PhD thesis in English.

The subject of the PhD thesis is based on the in-line/on line monitoring of the particle size and its distribution in industrially relevant emulsion polymerization processes using Photon-Wave Density Spectroscopy (PDW) and Turbidity Spectroscopy (TUS) This research will be carried out within the context of the European Project (Horizon 2020) NanoPAT in which the technology developers and a polymer latex producers will be our partners.
