Description

PhD Fellowship
A PhD Fellowship is available in the group of Dr. Aitor Larrañaga and Dr. Ana Beloqui at the Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering, POLYMAT Fundazioa (www.polymat.eu).
Supramolecular assemblies of polymer-based enzyme nanoreactors for therapeutic applications
We offer a highly multidisciplinary project that combines research involving protein chemistry, biocatalysis, applied polymer chemistry, and biomedicine. This project pursues the utilization of polymeric scaffolds for the embedment of functional proteins such as enzymes and the assembly of responsive nanoreactors. These nanoreactors will be applied to improve the integration of polymeric implants through enzymatic cascade reactions and smart delivery of therapeutic biomacromolecules.
The project will be carried out at POLYMAT, a vibrant multidisciplinary and international research institute in Bilbao and San Sebastian, Spain. The Institute offers excellent working conditions and is well equipped with instrumentation and facilities.
Required qualifications and experience.
Applicants must have a BSc and MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related discipline. Candidates that are in the process of their Master thesis defense in the next 6 months will also be considered. The candidate is expected to work in a multidisciplinary and an international environment. Good command of written and spoken English is a must.
Applications should be addressed to Dr. Aitor Larrañaga and sent via email in one single PDF to aitor.larranagae@ehu.eus before the 31.07.2021 including:
(i) a cover letter highlighting their interest in the position.
(ii) curriculum vitae.
(iii) academic record
(iv) a short description of previous research (1-2 Pages).
(v) the names and contact addresses (e-mail) of two academic referees.
Please note that because of the large number of applications expected, we will not be able to give individual feedback to unsuccessful applications.
POLYMAT has obtained the ‘HR Excellence in Research award‘. The award reflects our commitment to continuously improve our human resource policies in line with the European Charter for Researchers, the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and our commitment to achieve fair and transparent recruitment and appraisal procedures.
