A PhD Fellowship in Polymer Science and Engineering is available in the group of Science and Engineering of Polymeric Biomaterials (Profs. Jose-Ramon Sarasua and Agustin Etxeberria) at the Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering, POLYMAT Fundazioa (www.polymat.eu).
Applicants must have a BSc and MSc in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or equivalent discipline with background in Polymers. The lab work will require skills for polymer synthesis, also for techniques for molecular characterization (NMR, GPC), physical-chemical characterization (DSC, TGA, FTIR), thermoplastic processing (melt compounding, compression molding, injection molding, 3D printing), mechanical properties (tensile tests, DMA….) and for characterization of transport properties in polymers.
Good command of written and spoken English is a must (if preselected, a telephone interview will be carried out before any other appointment is made). The selected candidate is expected to conduct research, write papers, and deliver a PhD thesis.
