External R&D Services Technician – CIC biomaGUNE

CIC biomaGUNE is a non-profit research center launched with the mission of creating, producing, promoting and applying scientific and technological knowledge in the fields of biomaterials, molecular imaging and regenerative medicine.

An essential element in the mission of the center is achieving a positive impact in the competitiveness of the regional bio-industry sector by supporting companies in their innovation and commercialization efforts. Sharing our technological and research resources with industrial partners through the provision of external services is one of the routes followed by CIC biomaGUNE to achieve this goal.

The center is currently seeking an External R&D Services Technician to strengthen its capacities in the provision of research and technological services to third parties.

CIC biomaGUNE is located in Donostia-San Sebastián and currently hosts 134 people including researchers, PhD students and staff personnel.

Job description: The role of the External R&D Services Technician will be to increase the provision of external services to industrial partners by handling the customer communication channels, managing the scientific and technological services and promoting participation of industrial partners in research projects.

This position requires close interaction with research and technical staff at CIC biomaGUNE and extensive knowledge of the Basque bio-industry ecosystem. The successful candidate will report to both the Scientific Director and the Technology Transfer Officer.

Responsibilities:

• Customer contact point for external services provision, assisting in the successful communication between external customers and technical personnel.
• Management of the external services catalogue (including on-line resources): maintenance, update and promotion through multiple communication channels.
• Management of service quotations: from request to acceptance.
• Follow-up of the execution of external services.
• Oversee quality of service provision and compliance with CIC biomaGUNE’s Quality System.
• Management and promotion of the research partnering opportunities portfolio with industrial
  partners.
• Engagement of third parties in purposely designed research projects to support their innovation
  activities.
• Promote the participation of industrial partners in research projects.
• Attendance to trade shows, scientific meetings and events as well as organization of outreach and communication activities, to foster the establishment of new industrial partnerships and seek out collaboration with private stakeholders.

Background required:

• A Bachelor, Master in a relevant area of Physical and Engineering Sciences or Business Management is required and experience in the fields of nanomaterials or biotechnology is highly desirable.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in the commercialization of scientific services relevant to CIC biomaGUNE’s activity.
• Knowledge of the Basque bio-industry ecosystem.
• Knowledge of European Funding Schemes and proposal writing is desirable.
• Knowledge of intellectual property law and licensing practices is desirable.
• Ability to interact effectively in both academic and corporate cultures.
• Full command of English and Spanish.
• Excellent interpersonal skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.

Conditions:

• Salary will be established depending on experience.
• Contract duration: 1 year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
