PhD Fellowship in Polymer Science. POLYMAT

A PhD Fellowship in Polymer Science is available (for the Innovative Polymers and Advanced Multiphasic Polymers Groups) at the Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering, POLYMAT Fundazioa (www.polymat.eu).

The candidate is expected to enroll in the PhD program: Química Aplicada y Materiales Poliméricos (Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials) at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) at Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain.

Applicants must have a BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering (or a related discipline) and an MSc where the candidate had acquire knowledge on Polymer Science. A background in Polymer Science is highly desirable.

Good command of written and spoken English is a must (if preselected, a telephone/skype interview will be carried out before the final selection is made). The selected candidate is expected to conduct research, write papers, and deliver a PhD thesis in English.

The subject of the PhD thesis is based on PHOTOINDUCED RING OPENING POLYMERIZATION OF CYCLIC ESTERS: A STEP TOWARDS DIRECT 3 D PRINTING OF SEMI CRYSTALLINE ALIPHATIC POLYESTERS. A background on polymer synthesis, characterization as well as polymer structure and crystallization would be ideal.
